Learning Enrichment Centre (LEC)
AISHK is an inclusive school and aspires to meet the needs of all its students. The Learning Enrichment team works across the school with classroom teachers to enrich the learning in mainstream curriculum for all students, including those who are gifted and talented, experiencing difficulties, or both. The LEC team also has access to a part time private speech pathologist on site, under a fee for service arranged directly with parents. The LEC team includes the Head of Learning Support R-12, Literacy Intervention Specialist R-2, LEC teachers Years 3-6 and LEC Assistants R-12.
School Psychologists
Two school psychologists are available at AISHK to support students. Their work involves a mix of individual counselling and support for students, individual assessment work, advice to teachers and parents about managing social and emotional issues, some small group work and occasional classroom presentations, particularly on topics related to wellbeing.
Career Development
The Career Development team at AISHK comprises two members of staff who provide career counselling and advice to Secondary students as they progress through their Secondary years. The guidance provided evolves with each year level catered to our students' future education and career aspirations. Guidance services include individual meetings, the annual Tertiary and Careers Expo, designated Careers Advisor per student from Year 9 and a two-week Work Experience program in year 10. In Years 11 and 12, Careers Advisors hold individual meetings with students to discuss post-school options and to develop a plan of action, focused on applications for university courses and other tertiary studies.
We believe that this enhanced level of individual support and guidance is key in equipping our students with tools for life beyond just academic result, and for empowering them to leave AISHK as independent, resilient and global citizens.
