Head of Secondary, Peter Phillips

AISHK is deeply committed to preparing our students for a complex world and uncertain future. We provide students with varied opportunities to develop skills in critical thinking, collaboration and creativity, to help them become curious and reflective global citizens of tomorrow. Through robust and enriching academic, wellbeing and extracurricular programmes, teachers inspire personal excellence, passion and action in all our students.

When families join AISHK, they become part of a supportive and inclusive school community in which strong communication is key and everyone feels welcomed and valued. Our dedicated teachers and staff aim to know and understand every individual student and bring out their personal best. The Heads of Year, along with the home room teachers, are the key support people and advocates for students as they move through Secondary school.

Our House system, which pays homage to iconic Australian flora, is another key structure within the school that offers support, connection and leadership opportunities for students.

We look forward to welcoming you to our campus and starting the next exciting stage of your child's learning journey with AISHK.

Our Curriculum

In Years 7 to 10, students undertake the core subjects of the New South Wales Standards Authority (NESA) curriculum.  All students are enrolled in courses that cover eight Key Learning Areas (KLAs) to fulfil the Board of Studies (BOSTES) the mandatory requirements of NESA. The KLA and course electives have been structured to provide entry to either the NSW, Higher School Certificate or IB Diploma Programme in Years 11 and 12.

As students move up through the school they are encouraged to be personally responsible for their studies, with the aim of achieving self-discipline and organisation skills. They also have increased choice over their subjects and courses, all of which encourage the development of collaboration, communication and critical thinking skills.
