Head of Primary, Jane Thomas

AISHK is a place of learning and friendship where students connect, strive and flourish together. Students in the Primary school build a firm academic foundation that prepares them for Secondary school and beyond.

Experienced teachers, developing a love for learning and a diverse collection of extra-curricular activities are all part of life at AISHK. Above all, I know that the strong AISHK community and the relationships between students, parents and teachers underpins our success. It is the AISHK community working collaboratively that engenders students to become happy, resilient, global citizens of tomorrow. It is a privilege to be part of the AISHK community working within an international community in one of the most exciting cities in the world.

AISHK is located on Kowloon-side, on a campus that offers students a chance to try new things and to not be afraid to take risks. From our sky pool and pitch to our playground, science labs, art studios and sensory roof garden, we learn and teach in spaces that support children as they grow.

We look forward to welcoming you to AISHK.

Our Curriculum

In the Primary school, Prep - Year 6, AISHK has adopted ACARA (Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority). This framework gives teachers the flexibility to use a variety of approaches to learning, depending on the subject and an individual student’s learning style. The curriculum is inquiry-based and it includes a diversity of events and activities to develop the whole student, enhancing their skills and showcasing their passions.

Students are given ample opportunity to organise and represent their work in a variety of ways and to display higher levels of understanding. There are also opportunities for leadership skill development. At all stages, inquiry, critical thinking and independent learning is nurtured. As children progress through the Primary years, a greater emphasis is placed on student self-discipline and organisation.

Australian History and Culture

We are deeply passionate about Australian Indigenous culture and strive to integrate this rich heritage into our educational framework. The curriculum provides students with meaningful connections that enhance their learning experiences. Our approach not only highlights the significance of Indigenous culture within Australia but also extends to a broader, global perspective by exploring and appreciating other Indigenous cultures around the world.

We aim to foster a deeper understanding and respect for the diverse cultural landscapes that shape our uniquely Australian global community. Our curriculum ensures that students gain a well-rounded education, enriched with knowledge and appreciation of Indigenous histories, traditions, and contributions both locally and internationally.
